ABOUT GITA GORDON

I have lived and worked in Blackpool for more than 22 years. My husband has lived and run a small business all his life since the age of 17 years! My children were born here, attended school, and worked here locally before going into further education.

I started work in Blackpool North as a care worker, worked in various residential and nursing homes here, attended Blackpool College and University. I have worked with age concern (now age UK) in Blackpool, worked with local authority social services, Youth Offending Team, and voluntary organisations. I have first hand knowledge and experience of the revolving door concerns of people here and I have successfully helped resolve them too. Blackpool Gazette noted my award-winning performance on the British Heart Foundation public health Project run by the Blackpool Victoria Hospital in 2012.

I have worked with the NHS Trust during the Covid Pandemic, as a nursing associate trainee. In 2021 I too fell ill and struggled to survive, I was almost lost to the system in the pandemic chaos and had to rely on financial assistance and food bank due to an error in my salary calculation. That was a lesson to me about the pain people go through during hardships. It was a valuable insight into the ongoing cost of living challenge that is causing distress for many of us.
My aim is to bring positive change, accountability, and transparency to the position. I believe in working collaboratively with community members and stakeholders to address pressing issues unique to Blackpool North and Fleetwood.
